Dell Streak 10 Pro Honeycomb-Powered Tablet Makes Official Debut In China
The first Dell tablet to feature a 10.1-inch display and powered by Android Honeycomb haven’t debuted in America, but it first landed on Chinese ground.
We are talking about the new Dell Streak 10 Pro, which was officially launched in Beijing, China, and at the same event the technical specifications of the American tablet were also revealed, but they are not bringing anything new.
Just like the other tablets powered by Android 3.x Honeycomb, Streak 10 Pro is underpinned by an 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 (T20) chipset, it features 1GB of RAM DDR2, and a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, protected by a thin layer of Gorilla Glass.
Dell Streak 10 Pro also comes with two photo / video cameras, one of 5MP and the other one of 2MP, and a slot for SDXC memory cards. When it comes to storage memory, Dell’s tablet comes with 16GB of integrated storage, plus access to 2GB of storage in the cloud. There’s just one version of Dell Streak 10 Pro and it only includes WiFi connectivity.
The new Dell tablet weighs in 727g and is only 12mm thick, and even though the Streak 10 Pro is not the best looking, the thinnest or the lightest tablet on the market, its price tag of ¥2,999 (the equivalent of $465) may attract some customers, who need a complete tablet at a price below the competition.
One of the aspects we appreciated at the new Dell Streak 10 Pro is the battery life, as the company announced that their tablet is able to stay up for up to 12 hours of “typical work.”
Dell also plans to launch this tablet on the North American market, but Dell Streak 10 Pro will debut there only in 2012. Probably this is not a clever move, as the rumors suggest that Apple will launch their iPad 3 sometime in November 2011.
